Las Terrenas

Is a Dominican municipality in the Samaná province, on the north coast of the peninsula of Samaná at 245 km from the city of Santo Domingo. Is the area that has as many coconut trees per square kilometer in the world, this is obvious because here they prepare all meals, drinks and sweets with coconut. It is world famous and visited it annually gathers more than 3,000.00 humpback whales that come to mate in winter and spring.

In this special place in the Dominican Republic is that Las Terrenas is a town and a beach over 15 miles. surrounded by palm trees that give it a Caribbean flavor that they love to tourists who visit our island, its cream-colored sand to make you feel fully part of nature. Las Terrenas has become over the years into a tourist destination for both Dominicans and foreigners. The beauty of La Playa Las Terrenas and the hospitality of the locals is known by many, where the visitor has the opportunity to play sports like golf, diving, diving and tennis. Is located in Las Terrenas Playa Bonita Bay, one of the most beautiful beaches on the peninsula of Samana.

Samana was a famous slave trade port for the British in the early 17th century. Today, the people of these provinces are a mix of Taino, Spanish and African descent. The name Las Terrenas comes from the French La terrienne (the “lady that owns land”)

Las Terrenas is a new hotspot for foreigners but also people from the Capital. Since the new highway between Santo Domingo and Samaná is done, people from SD come here every week. It takes 2 hours from the center Las Terrenas to the center Santo Domingo. Also, the new airport El Catey also is open for international flights, mainly used for connections in Europe and Canada.

  • It is a small island or cay located center of Samana Bay and has a beautiful beach, a small, exclusive hotel and various facilities for visitors , including those arriving by cruise to Samana.

    Playa Las Terrenas and Popy

    Are long and quiet beaches , shallow white sand, and all along its shores may have to find a huge variety of small hotels, excellent restaurants and lively bars . In addition , the sunsets are simply spectacular.

    Playa Bonita

    It is all that the name implies . It has a western part which is a pool , and much more active against small hotels . Playa Bonita, is considered the “sand whales ” by the rock formations in the shape of whales that have at sea.

    Playa Cosón

    Is paid for surfing and body boarding , bodysurfing or exclusively for , perhaps the purest form of surfing . As there is nothing between the surfer and the wave , a union between man and much more intense experience, occurs . And be sure to eat a good grilled seafood or the best fish on the beach.

    Playa Rincón

    This bay beach 2 kilometers in length is one of those rarities that are still without a hotel or real estate development. It is reached by the road from Samana to Las Galeras and has the peculiarity of being a several beaches . Its nature is untouched and is considered one of the best beaches in the world , with a side of docile and calm waters, and one with a strong surf, perfect for body surfing .
